Play mini-review

So last night, spurred by [livejournal.com profile] andyknifton, I joined the opening night crowd at [livejournal.com profile] gothbabe's play. Well, she is directing the production, ably assisted by Alvin, and wrote one of the three plays.

Verdict is, yes you should all go see it! All of the actors are brilliant. Alexa's play "Waiting for Goldman Sachs" is a somewhat absurdist (forgive me if I don't have the terminology right) satire on the materialistic '80s, which is entertaining if a bit lacking in overall direction. (Direction as in having a point, rather than being badly directed!) The opener is a monologue imagining the tale of Mercutio (character in Romeo and Juliet), who was perfectly cast. But the final play, "Zoo Story" by Edward Albee, is worth the £10 admission alone... a play from the 50s whose social observations still stand true today, and with absolutely stunning acting from the main character "Jerry". Well done Alexa and Vin in putting the thing together.
