Things Going On

Tonight, I would love to head up to Coventry to catch The Last Dance again and see my friend Martin from Attrition, but alas the boi isn't up for the road trip... he has already sacrificed much for the cause of The Last Dance so I will regretfully let him off the hook. (Of course, on the other hand he has The Last Dance to thank for us getting together in the first place... ah well! An easy weekend is probably in order anyway.)

So instead we will probably head to Ritual which I believe is only £3 with a flyer before 10, if the Number 4 bus can manage to get us there in time.

Tomorrow The Ghost of Lemora, Voices of Masada and A Couple of Furrign Bands are playing at the Underworld, early doors (6:30!!). I'm quite interested in seeing Bloody Mary, they're Italian and their singer is hot stuff :) Then Kryptorium is on at the London Stone, and it's free!

Then next weekend, Bring Out Your Dead is on Saturday starting at 3pm, I'd really like to see Casual and the Vincent Razorbacks so no showing up late for me! ;) I've got my tickets already, get 'em quick and save some cash! PLUG PLUG!

And then Sunday is Black Mass at the good old Marquee. Third floor this time. heh. Maybe they'll do something involving turkeys. Gods I hope not!

Reclaim the Night
Reclaim the Night is a global movement that represents women's human right to live free from discrimination and fear of violence. Also known as Take Back the Night, the event began in Northern England during the 1970s to protest against the fear that women felt walking in the streets at night.

Reclaim The Night 2005
A Reclaim the Night March and Rally will be taking place on 25th November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The event will also honour Andrea Dworkin and her contribution to ending violence against women. The march is women only, starting from Soho Square at 6pm, a map is available here.

The rally at the end of the march is a mixed gender event and will be held in the Galley Bar of the University of London Union on Malet Street from 7.30pm, a map is available here.

ULU have kindly offered the venue for the Rally, and will be closing the bar for us. So, please, please, PLEASE come along for a drink, bring as many friends as you can (male and female, the party is mixed) and have a great time!

Why is the march women only?
Reclaim The Night is historically a women-only space, as it is women reclaiming the right to go out at night in safety without requiring male protection. Women only spaces are a valuable opportunity for women to meet in a safe space and share experiences, and commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. We recognise that men share the aims of RTN and welcome male support, but ask men to respect that this is a women-only space. Men are welcome at the mixed rally at the end of the march.
