Voting Conservative can be a valid tactic for registering a protest.

Why not vote Liberal Democrat then? Cynics would argue the result would be the same, anyway.

It depends on the numbers in the actual seat. In some places, voting for Lib Dem registers a stronger protest, in others, voting Tory does.
