Here come the brides (and grooms)

djpsycheForget the baby Jesus and the fat man in a red suit. What’s got me all misty eyed this holiday season is the romantic tales of those hundreds of long-term, loving couples who are finally allowed to get married.
And fuck the quotation marks. If people like J.Lo and Britney Spears are allowed to repeatedly wed for sport, why shouldn’t same-sex couples be entitled to the same terminology? Just because it rankles some strait-laced straights who can’t bring themselves to admit that love is love, commitment is commitment, whether it’s to a man or a woman. I think it’s beautiful, and I’m very proud to live in a country whose government agrees with me.
So, a tear and a toast to Elton and David, and all of the other couples who have exercised their newfound right to a public celebration of their love. Congratulations and best wishes to you all.
