So I'm trying to get Frankenstein a London gig to go along with their Whitby appearance and every goddam venue is booked!

Water Rats - booked
Purple Turtle - booked
Dublin Castle - won't do outside promotions
On the Rocks - booked
Metro - waiting for them to get back to me
Bar Academy - waiting for them to get back to me <- now this would be nice actually!
Upstairs at the Garage - booked
Upstairs at the Marquee - not going THERE again!
The Verge - sold :(

And then there's the "too big and/or expensive category", which are probably all booked by this point too. I know it's cutting it close to the bone for a late April gig, but they just announced Whitby so I didn't have a lot of warning myself.

Anyone else know of any decent, reasonably central, 100-200 capacity venues that can host bands, that might be available? Otherwise I think I'm going to have to bag the idea :/

The Buffalo Bar in Highbury? That's a nice little venue.

The Hope and Anchor in Highbury is possibly a bit too small but I dunno. I'm not sure what the capacity actually is.

The 12 Bar Club, off Charing Cross Road? I'm not sure if they have a music policy, I haven't ever seen a goth/deathrock band there, but it's about the right size...

The 100 Club on Oxford Street is pretty small (I am crap at judging spaces though so I have no idea how many people would fit) - where Siouxsie played a year ago or so?

Is a nice little venue, run by right c*nts who wouldn't let me give away wine at my own expense even after I made them a grand at their bar, and threw a right fit at me about it.
Hope & Anchor is indeed too small, as is the Betsey Trotwood. I will check out that 12 Bar place, thanks!

1- Madame Jo Jo's is too expensive and booked every Thursday by Frank Flag. Great space though
2- yes that's called Bar Academy, I am chasing them hard!
3- there is no sound system there

If Siouxsie played there, I definitely can't afford it! Ha ha

It's really tiny though, they usually have jazz stuff on these days I think. I assumed it was just so expensive as they hiked up the prices for Siouxsie as they knew everyone would pay it anyway!

Hm, people seem to have mentioned most of the obvious ones. Barfly/Monarch, maybe?

Barfly are complete snobs and won't talk to you unless you're the newest coolest trendy band about to be discovered by NME.

The White Horse on Brixton Hill?
The Windmill on Brixton Hill?

I might be biased to the south...

Yeah, that is true, although they do change their tune if they're having trouble getting gigs in. Difficult to be snobbish if you need to keep the bar take up, I guess.

Going further afield, you could try the Half Moon in Putney, or maybe Cargo in Hoxton, the Spitz even.

Failing that, I think they do the odd gig at the Albert Hall... ;)
