There are asexuals that reproduce, psychopaths that never kill, and autistics that communicate. A-sexuality is not a compulsion not to reproduce, psychopathy is not a compulsion to kill, and autism is not a compulsion not to communicate, so none of these examples tell us anything about overcoming compulsions.
