LiveJournal tumbleweeds...

It really says something that my 51-comment post on inborn broodiness was yesterday's 2nd highest performing post on all of LiveJournal.

When you want a contained debate, this is the place to do it!

Oh no it isn't

(oh yes it is)

There still are enough people that the conversation is possible and, often, worth the while, but it is much less likely to degenerate in a flame-war (as used to be the case in Usenet) or digress into endless irrelevant side-tracks..

True enough on the tumbleweed thing. I've not even managed to post on my own journal for two months, now.

There would be no point my trying to start a debate of any kind on my journal: I doubt that the number of people on my f-list checking their LJ on any given day makes it into double figures. The number who post, even as rarely as me, is definitely lower than that...

I did realise there wouldn't be enough comments if I relied on just people I know personally who still read my journal. That's why I solicited more input over on TLL. (And yes, Guess Who objected to my doing that?)

* puts on best neutral face* *waves Swiss flag*

Being as I'm a mod, I think it probably best that I say as little as possible on that point, there or here...

It says that LJ is alive and kicking, as is TLL, because what got you to second highest is the number of views, not comments.

Oh ouch...and I was just at a party where a friend noted they read my lj but don't comment.

Though I wasn't convinced this was the case based on her...questions about my life, which seemed easily available on my lj. Murph.
