Public service announcement!
This Thursday at Madam JoJo's, Libitina are playing what is turning out to be their farewell gig. From Jamie:
Just to let you know that we're playing at The Glitz at Madame Jojo’s, Brewer Street , London W1, on Thursday 21st September as part of a Depeche Mode party to mark the launch of Cryonica Music's B-side tribute album. There's a flyer on our website for a reduced admission price of £5 and we're on at 9pm. The URL is www.libitina.co.uk/dmflyer.doc.
It'll be our 100th live show and will also be the last gig we do with the current line-up of the band. Phill is leaving to pursue his new project (called Pinion... some details are available on the Libation Records website at www.libationrecords.co.uk ) and after 12 years it's probably time Darren and I did something new! Whatever happens with Libitina in the future, we'd like to thank you for your support over the years- it's been fun.
Best wishes,
Jamie, Darren, & Phill.
Speaking of Libitina,
ravenstoker or
caveynik did you pick a copy of their latest album from the second deck at Wrecked on Saturday? Lost it in a record four hours time. Doh!
Also on Saturday it is Antilight with Queen Adreena, which I plan to attend if Oscar lets me out of the house. Flyer:

Speaking of Wrecked, that was bloody good fun. Only downer was that no music was audible on the upper deck where all the fantastic views were, which left me DJing to an empty floor for my first set. Which admittedly is par for the course for early sets, but this time everyone was there! I heard that eight people missed the boat, would love to find out who the guilty parties were.

Date: 2006-09-19 11:53 am (UTC)Shared ownership does mean both rent and mortgage to pay, but the mortgage is lower obviously, and the rent part is council level, not private level ( the difference being 300.00 per month for a 1 bedroom vs around 650.00 to 750.00, which is quite a difference ). I would strongly recommend you ignore the north london snobbery/arrogance/stupidity that goes on re easy to get to big clubs etc and look at the more longterm, and have a look dahn sahf. Leave the fools to struggle against huge targets and get tactical. Croydon is always up for dj's who know their stuff and are willing to learn from the locals and add their bit as well. And it's wierdo friendly in a lot of places. The alternative scene was huge down here. Ok that lot are now old and out of it, but they don't mind us lot as long as the drugs are hidden and no-one starts a personal war. There's a reason why the north london massive snub this place ;)
For example, the Black Sheep Bar ( where I saw pendulum, a kickass night ) now has fingerprint ID for it's regulars to keep problem types out. They may well entertain a decent alternative night as around here it's nowt but metal and punk/ ska really. Who knows, but if you pulled the boat party then you could prolly do it. And tbh it's a doddle to get from East Croydon to say the Fairfiled Halls or croydon highstreet. Up to you of course, but it's rather cool down here :D
Oh yeah, get snobby and the locals will be most unfriendly. Be sociable and they'll talk to you ( as werefern found out last night approaching this monster punk dude, who was more than happy to have a smile and say hi ).
My journal is much less heavy these days as I am a lot bettterer, but it's up to you if you want to read ;)
Enjoy, I am off to make pickled eggs ;)
